Chalcopyrite, or copper pyrites, has been mistaken for gold, just as iron pyrites has, so both minerals are called Fool's Gold. Real gold is a more buttery yellow and is ductile and malleable. Chalcopyrite is a common mineral and is found in almost all sulfide deposits.
