Quartz is the most abundant mineral in the earth’s crust, found in nearly geological environment and a component of every rock type. It’s abundance is incredible and as such produces an incredible amount of varieties that it is hard to tell the difference between the same mineral. One of the major contributors to its uniqueness is the amount of impurities that give it different colors and the different geometric arrangements of its crystals.

Quartz has many commercial uses such as sandpaper and other abrasives, soaps, bearings, porcelain, glass, metals, radios, TV’s, clocks, watches and a whole slew of different materials that make up our daily lives.
