Sapphire is the non-red version of the mineral
corundum, the second hardest natural mineral know to man, with
a hardness of 9 on the Moh’s scale. The ruby is the red
version of the mineral corundum. Contrary to popular opinion,
not all sapphires are blue, but can be of any color, such as
orange-pink, golden, white, bluish-green, yellow, violet and
even opaque black. However, blue is still the most popular color
because of its popularity.
Sapphire is used as jewelry in rings, pendants,
earrings, cuff-links and pins any anything that you use to complement
your wardrobe. The most popular sapphire ring is the elegant
sapphire and diamond ring presented by Prince Charles of England
to Lady Diana Spencer to seal his betrothal.
